Cyber hackers are constantly finding new ways to try and get access to your confidential information. As always, we are on the look out for these ongoing scams to keep you informed and educated.

The newest ongoing scam revolves around phony email notifications claiming to be from Microsoft Teams. These phishing emails are an attempt to steal employee credentials. These impersonators craft emails looking almost identical to authentic Microsoft emails, including their logo and copy-cat landing pages. We’ve provided an example below. An example of an actual phishing email attempting to steal credentials. How does this scam work? They have created a multi-layer attack by re-directing the URL from the initial email, eventually landing on a web page asking for your Microsoft login credentials.

This is an extreme security risk due to the fact that your Microsoft Teams account is linked directly to your Microsoft Office account. This would allow them access your entire account in one click. What should you do? Firstly, if something looks phony, it probably is. Trust your gut, and delete that email immediately. Secondly, never click anything in an email that looks suspicious. The second that link is activated, it can redirect to another page within seconds, stealing your credentials in the blink of an eye.
