Food arrived in good time and as mentioned earlier, it was very very good and served nice and hot which I like. Is this restaurant good for special occasions? The selection of veg was good tho, it just needed to be cooked sufficiently.

We came to the restaurant on a bit of a whim for lunch. The waiter manager? We actually shared them so we could try both. The burger was very good but the belly the quarry restaurant was exceptional! We were so full that we had to share a dessert of sticky toffee pudding, which was also really good. Jen, our table waiter was very attentive.
We will certainly be back to try the evening menu. We hired the function room to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary.
The management and staff were really helpful prior to and during the event, nothing was too much trouble. On the day the room looked great, we were allowed to decorate it as we pleased The food was well received and many of our guests positively commented on both the food and atmosphere. Were got held up on route and delayed by about 20 mins. Someone from the restaurant called to check that we were on our way about 15 mins after the booked time. Thought that was good Equally, we were getting concerned that we might lose our table On arrival, Richard greeted us with a friendly smile and we were treated with real grace and attention – not too fussy but enough to make us feel very welcome.
The food was good. Starters of prawn cocktail and house parfait were good size portions and tasty. Fish was dry as a bone so not edible. Took four hours to serve us and we were hungry after the event. Steak and ale pie inside the meat was a grey colour and tasteless, more chewy than hubba bubba. Even had a funny smell like tinned dog food. Veg was decent but meat quarfy shocking. Asked for it rare and it was more well the quarry restaurant than a gingers sunburn. Complained to staff about the food and was offered no resolution.
While all this was going on, through the evening, all the kitchen staff were pennsylvania nickname in plain view snacking on leftovers and random foods that were getting served to customers, taking bits of cheese out of the tub and ramming in on his mouth then a bit on the plate.
Extremely disappointed as we had been when it 1st reopened and sat in the car park while bar snacks were on and it was lovely. Just seems like nobody could be bothered or the quarry restaurant what they was doing.

I had the seabass, which was okay, although tue green vegetables were quadry tad undercooked for my liking. It all just felt very much like hard work trying to get service. What was clearly lacking in there was leadership. There were plenty of staff so they definitely weren’t short staffed but it seemed that the servers were not allocated tables to take care of so no one knew what was going on, who needed orders taking, who was waiting to pay etc. There was a manager on duty but he appeared to be completely oblivious and certainly wasn’t giving any tne of direction to the young team.
The place needs more structure and leadership. It was not busy when we were there on Sunday late afternoon, in fact one section of the restaurant was closed. There were about 5 or 6 tables occupied so I would dread to think what the service would be like at a busier time. Will we give it another try There’s another gastro pub not far from this place also serving excellent your zone florida and service is so much better this place needs to up its game or people will just go down the road.
